Dr. Antonia D’Onofrio is a Professor at Widener University
and the senior faculty member in the Center for Education. Dr. D’Onofrio is the
NCATE Coordinator who successfully led the NCATE recognition process for all
specialty program areas and full NCATE accreditation for the university.
The process of seeking NCATE accreditation is one that
requires a high degree of energy, time commitment and support by all involved
in the process and others at the university seeking accreditation. There is a
lot that can be learned from those who have gone through the accreditation
process and have achieved NCATE accreditation. To assist others who are
considering seeking accreditation or who are already in the process, the
authors share their “behind the scenes” perspectives and offer tips for
survival and success.
