The South Carolina School Leadership Executive Institute (SLEI), in partnership with the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL), is an initiative designed to give principals the insight, knowledge, and competencies necessary to lead South Carolina schools to success. The curriculum focuses on professional development and enhancing principalsʹ skills in three areas: leadership, management, and educational best practices. To examine the program’s success, CCL conducted case studies with two schools whose principals achieved significant turnaround success. Findings suggest that as a result of the SLEI program, principals developed and/or enhanced various competencies that influenced their ability to successfully turn their schools around.
