Abstract

This research uses in-depth interviews to examine administrators’ perspectives of diversity at the University of Florida.  Although this state institution has a respectable number of minority students and faculty, it, too, struggles with how to make it an institution inclusive to all.  These struggles are in part due to the institution’s history, perceptions, and culture.  Although this article focuses on the efforts of one institution others could learn from the mistakes and successes is has seen.  While suggestions are made for what the University of Florida might be able to do to further increases diversity on its campus other institutions might be able to learn from these examples as well.
