Derrick Dwayne Davis is an Associate Professor and Program Lead in the Graduate School of Educational Administration at the Alabama A&M University in Normal, Alabama. Davis has a PhD in Educational Administration from Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, a MEd from Cambridge College in Cambridge, Massachusetts and a BS degree from Alabama A&M University. Presently, Davis is attending law school at Birmingham School of Law and holds two state specialized certifications to teach School Law and School Finance by the Alabama State Department of Education.
Davis has chaired several master level thesis committees and serves on the following internal committees at Alabama A&M University: administration advisory committee, administration/organization handbook committee, dean’s advisory committee, grant proposal committee, and the scholarship committee.
Presently, he is a member of the Alabama Association of Professors of Educational Leadership (AAPEL), the Education Law Association and serves as a Board Member for “Raised by the Village.”
Davis has headed and coordinated numerous Educational seminars and has participated in the most notable Executive Leadership Summit hosted by Hampton University in Virginia. Further, he was recommended and completed training to become one of the states Board of Examiners for the National Council of Accreditation of Teacher Education and the Alabama Department of Education. Equally important, Davis completed the Alabama Education Law Program which was sanctioned and approved by Governor Bob Riley in 2003. And, to name a few, Davis has served as presenter for the Data Driven School Improvement Seminar for the University of Alabama and Alabama A&M University, and has conducted numerous School Law presentations both at his present university and throughout the state of Alabama.
Publications
Davis’s publishing and presentation efforts have largely been focused on School Law topics and school evaluation.
