Rima Aboudan is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, United Arab Emirates University. Rima’s research interests include psycholinguistics, clinical psychology, nonverbal communication, and the teaching of English as a second language. Her publications appeared in international refereed journals including Education for General Practice and Semiotica. Her research findings were also presented in international conferences in London, New York, Santa Barbara, and Turkey.

Rima’s professional distinction won her a research fellowship from the NASA division of Aberdeen University when she worked for one year on the psychological aftermath of aviation accidents. Rima was also selected as the psycholinguistic evaluator of patient-doctor consultations as required by the GP Registrars Summative Assessment Scheme in Scotland and the British Medical Association.

Rima’s other experiences include her work as a clinical psychologist with patients suffering from anxiety disorders, dyslexia, and compulsive disorders; and her experience as a lecturer in various educational institutions teaching ESOL, linguistics, public speaking, conversation, applied linguistics, phonology, morphology, sociolinguistics and psycholinguistics
