Dr. Shala Mills is chair and associate professor of political science at Fort Hays State University. Her teaching interests are in the areas of public law, the courts, and political theory. She is the recipient of FHSU’s Pilot Award for outstanding teaching and Navigator Award for outstanding advising. She has been the university’s nominee for US Professor of the Year. She is active on both the university’s Council for Institutional Effectiveness and General Education Committee and is a former member of the university Assessment Committee. She has served as the university’s Affirmative Action Officer. Her work on departmental assessment has been presented at the American Association of Colleges & Universities conference and the American Political Science Association Teaching and Learning conference. She holds a BA in History from Baylor University and a JD from the University of Kansas.
