Abstract

This is an attempt to summarize my earlier study on school effectiveness and to better understand the methodological competencies of teachers. This paper examines how successful professional and non-professional teachers’ methodological competencies affect student’s academic achievement in Nigeria secondary schools. The used tool and analysis are simple and incorporates indicators used by similar tools. Based on literature and the empirical study, it was gathered that professional teachers tend to be more methodological competent than the non-professional teachers.
