Dr. Patrick Mendis is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor of Management in the Graduate School of Management and Technology at the University of Maryland University College in College Park, Maryland. He received the Stanley J. Drazek Teaching Excellence Award for his graduate teaching in the University of Maryland's European Division in Germany. He also taught at the Asian Division in Japan before he joined the U.S. State Department in September 2000. Professor Mendis earned his PhD from the University of Minnesota, an MA from the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, and a BS from the University of Sri Lanka. He completed his postdoctoral learning, teaching, and research at Harvard, Yale, and Columbia Universities respectively.
