Abstract:

This is the age of leadership and management. Every group activity requires some sort of leadership to organize and direct the group’s effort toward some previously decided goals. Although, management and leadership are different from each other, they are remarkably close too, especially in the dimension of human relationship. Leadership is the process whereby one individual influences other members of the group towards the attainment of defined group or organizational goals. Success of different organizations, especially educational institutions depend on effective and efficient principals. An attempt is made in this paper to describe the concept of leadership behaviour, theories and perspectives in this context.
